How do I Check my Phone’s Temperature?

Let’s face it. Almost all phones have a limit and can heat up if that limit is crossed. If you are able to somehow tell the temperature of your android or iPhone, you can use it to make the phone last longer. Because phones are damaged most of the time by overheating or due to the damage caused by it.

The most recent smartphones do have temperature sensors in them which can be used to tell the temperature of the phone. Once the phone reaches or crosses a certain limit, the user might want to stop using it to let it cool down. But there are phones aplenty that do not have sensors to detect their temperature. In this case, we will use some other techniques to tell how warm or cold the phone is.

In this blog, we will look into the various ways through which you can check the temperature of your phone, whether it is an android or an iPhone. Let’s dive in.

What makes the Phone heat up?

Well before we delve into diagnosing the temperature of your phone, let’s quickly discuss what might have caused it to heat up. This is an important thing to discuss because understanding the reasons behind your phone heating up is a surefire way to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Let’s look at the reasons why your phone might have overheated.

Heavy Performance

First, the most probable reason is the performance of the phone. All smartphones only have limited performance capability which depends on their memory and processing power. When the memory and processing power of the phone gets short, it starts to overheat. This heat is a byproduct of the phone’s hard work at trying to get the job done.

Malware

Another factor that might cause your phone to overheat is malware. Malware is any software that is intended to harm your phone. A virus. Hackers install malware on consumer phones to steal information and other sensitive data. This malware also uses the memory and processing power of the phone without you knowing. Ultimately, the effect of malware on a phone is the unauthorized use of dedicated memory and processing power which causes the phone to overheat at doing even simple tasks.

Direct Exposure to a Heat Source

Well, well, well. If you are sunbathing on the beach, we recommend not leaving the phone under direct sunlight. Similarly, if you are camping next to a bonfire, keeping the phone at a safe distance from the fire is necessary.

Direct exposure to heat sources, particularly at close distances is highly dangerous for phones. It not only causes the phones to overheat but it poses the risk of blowing up the phone batteries.

What temperature is ideal for a Phone?

While you are wondering if your phone has overheated or not, you might also be wondering what the ideal temperature for your phone might be.

The temperature at which most phones work ideally is between 0 – 35 degrees centigrade/ 32 – 90 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the phone can sit idly and perform tasks such as making phone calls, video streaming, gaming, etc.

Once the temperature of the phone reaches its highest limit of 35 degrees centigrade/90 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s best to stop using processor-intensive applications, if not all.

How to check the temperature of an iPhone?

If you are an iPhone user and wonder if you can check the temperature of your iPhone, you are not the only person. Aplenty of iPhone users wonder ]that iPhones have built-in sensors for monitoring temperature.

However, the information from these sensors is only utilized to send high-temperature warnings on iPhones. Users do not have direct access to this data. And it is only used at the back end of the phone.

To measure the temperature of the iPhone, you can use third-party applications which claim to gather the data from the built-in sensors of the phone. However, no one really can claim whether that is true or not.

Another method of checking the temperature of an iPhone is to use an infrared thermometer. Although the thermometer will tell the external temperature of the phone, it is still useful and more trustworthy than the information provided by third-party apps.

Third-Party Apps and iPhone Temperature

While the third-party apps may not be reliable when it comes to measuring the temperature of an iPhone, they are useful in keeping the phone cool.

Apps that are designed to keep any iPhone cool function by closing any unused/idle apps running in the background. This reduces the amount of processing power used and ultimately brings down the temperature of the iPhone.

How to Keep Any iPhone Cool?

Keeping any iPhone cool is simple. iPhones have built-in mechanisms to mitigate overheating problems. If your iPhone is getting overheated, the built-in seniors will send a warning and at that point, you need to stop using applications that are heavy on the processor.

In addition to that, some apps help keep the iPhone cool. As mentioned earlier, the third-party apps designed to keep an iPhone cool will keep the temperature of the phone at a minimum by optimizing the utilization of the phone processor.

How to check the temperature of an android phone?

Like iPhones, almost all android phones have built-in sensors that collect and send information about the health of their battery and the overall phone temperature to its manufacturer.

Some android phones also allow the user to access this data. Although it is also used to monitor and send errors and warnings about the health of the phone, users also have access to it.

For instance, if the phones allow you to access the temperature of the phone, the option will be provided explicitly and not in a hidden manner. You would use this information to optimize the phone for better performance.

How to Keep Any Android Phone Cool?

Keeping any android phone is easy, just like any iPhone. Some android phones have built-in optimization applications. These applications optimize the phone’s performance to keep its temperature at a bare minimum.

Moreover, using the phone in a cool space will make sure that it won’t overheat.

Bottom Line

In a nutshell, you can use the built-in applications in android phones to check their phone temperature. In iPhones, the most reliable information you get is from an infrared thermometer. Although the temperature recorded will be external, it will be more worthy of trust than any third-party app.
