The problem is with everyone. People posting on Instagram for a long time now have cluttered and messy-looking profiles. To be honest, it is not the best aesthetic to attract more followers.

If you want more followers and if you want them to engage with your content on Instagram, you need to rearrange your posts. Rearranging all of your posts in a well-organized and pretty-looking manner is not only good for your follower base but also reflects how you carry yourself as a person.

So if the importance of this task is established, let’s find out how to actually rearrange Instagram posts in this step-by-step guide.

Let’s dive into it without further ado.

“Keeping Instagram posts arranged and tidy is important. It makes your account interesting and increases user engagement and follower base. If your Instagram account is not organized in the best way possible, you can use a few techniques such as deleting and reposting, archiving, editing captions, tags, etc to make it look welcoming and aesthetically pleasing.”

Your Instagram Posts Reflect Your Personality

You know what? Your followers and those who visit your Instagram account can tell a lot more about you than you might think. So never underestimate the importance of keeping it tidy.

I mean you would never want to come off as someone who posts irrelevant photos and images. Nobody wants to see irrelevant ‘shitposts’ (well, some do). Memes are tolerable to some degree though.

In any case, your followers want to see the type of content that you are telling them in your post. If you are a fashion influencer, people would most probably want to see fashion-related pictures and videos.

So the types of posts you post and the way you keep them organized tell about your personality.

Can You Rearrange Instagram Posts?

Can you rearrange your Instagram posts? Well, you can but there are limitations.

You can not rearrange your photos or videos like you can in a photo album.

Instagram by default displays your posts in chronological order. It means that you will have to delete your posts and then reupload them to arrange them in your preferred order.

However, there are some ways in which you can rearrange your posts without deleting them. But keep in mind, these methods still cannot allow drag-and-drop rearrangement.

How To Rearrange Instagram Posts?

Now there are certain techniques you can use to make your Instagram account professionally managed. But the best technique I recommend is to plan your posts in advance. You will rearrange the ones you have posted now but in the future, follow a proper plan.

Now let’s take a look at how to rearrange your Instagram posts.

1. Archive

The first technique is quite sneaky. And this is the best method if you don’t want two or three years old posts to show on your account.

Speaking from personal experience, this happens quite a lot. You posted a photo or a video and now three years later, you don’t think it’s cute enough. Now, what do you do? You simply archive it.

Archiving means it will remain on your account but it will not be displayed to your followers.

Follow this easy 3-step guide to archive your Instagram posts:

Step#1

Open your Instagram and open the post you want to archive.

Step#2

Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the post.

Step#3

Among other options, you will see the option to “Archive”. Tap on it and the post should vanish.

Archiving your cringy or unwanted Instagram posts is the best way to keep your account organized. Because you can always bring them back if you want to.

2. Delete and Restore

The alternative to archiving your Instagram is deleting and restoring.

To rearrange your Instagram posts using this method, you first need to delete the posts that you don’t want on your account. Then, if you want certain posts to be at the top of your account, you will need to restore the deleted posts.

The step-by-step procedure is as follows:

Step#1

Open and delete the posts you don’t want on your Instagram account.

Step#2

Now restore the posts that you want to appear on top of your account.

3. Edit the Carousel

The carousel on Instagram is multiple photos uploaded in a single post. This allows users to show more than one photo in only one post.

People mostly use this option to post images or videos from an event such as a trip to the beach, etc.

If you have posted a bunch of photos in a carousel, you can edit it. You can edit it to add more photos or delete already installed ones.

Editing the posts in a carousel alone will not make your Instagram account super tidy, but it will surely contribute. Also, if you only want to edit delete, or add certain images to a carousel, here’s how to do it:

Step#1

Open your Instagram account and then go to the carousel you want to edit.

Step#2

Tap the three dots on the top right of the carousel post.

Step#3

Tap on the ‘Edit’ option.

Step#4

Once you tap on edit, the post will become entirely editable. Now you can rearrange the photos, delete them, and edit the captions, tags, and location.

4. Pin Three Posts

Recently, Instagram has introduced a new feature. This new feature allows you to pin three of your favorite posts to the top of your account.

Pinning a few posts at the top of your account allows you to show your audience what you want them to see first. This is a great way to showcase your most important content. And quite a lot of Instagrammers use this feature, including me.

5. Edit Captions

This is the last resort to head to. If you have done everything you could to make your Instagram account look presentable, you have this last option left.

Although this method does not rearrange your posts, it certainly helps with enhancing engagement. Take this for example.

Two years back, I posted a photo of my dog. Unfortunately, that dog is now dead.

The photo I posted two years ago is not the best quality and the caption is some silly line. But when I change it to something that people can relate to and feel for my dead dog, it will perform better.

Now that does not exactly make my Instagram account look pretty but it makes it interesting. And it makes it real.

Simply, that is what I think really matters. Because after all, you want to rearrange your Instagram posts to make them attractive, right? If so, then making it interesting and keeping it real is the way to go.

Final Words

In conclusion, there are various ways to rearrange your Instagram posts. But the one I personally recommend is archiving and editing the captions and tags. It ensures that you keep it real on the photo-sharing app while also keeping your account neat.
